The Sustainco project aims to raise awareness of, and support development of, low energy building projects, with special emphasis on rural areas of the seven European countries participating in the project. SustainCo aims to increase the visibility of front-runners, for both new-build and renovation, with the aim of capacity- and confidence-building in the public sector.

Sustainco will facilitate knowledge transfer from a range of best practice case studies and projects such as SERVE (Sustainable Energy for the Rural Village Environment).
Sustainco will support integrated approaches to design and retrofitting by exposure to best practice examples and by facilitating links between key players.
Sustainco will facilitate the development of 8 high profile proposed Nearly Zero Energy Building (NZEB) projects and will support a further 50 NZEB projects that have already launched.
Sustainco will assist rural regions, which are often neglected, with both technical solutions and financial and procurement aspects, whilst facilitating engagement with the Covenant of Mayors.
